Elizabeth Van Liere

Elizabeth Van Liere

Author

Elizabeth Van Liere’s articles, stories and poems have been published in various magazines for over sixty years. At age 87, her first book, Dare to Live, became available. Written for those “over the hill, but not under it,” the book dwells on the frustrations for those on the other side of 60. Because Elizabeth believes God has given her a gift of laughter, she shares insights in her latest book, Dare to Laugh, devotions for those “full of years,” .  From small, nagging irritations to tears-in-your-heart trials, she turns the focus on problems to God’s plan for our lives. At age 91, she passes on a glimpse of why we Dare to Laugh.

About the Book:

When the joints creak and the eyes begin to squint Dare to Laugh. When your children are grown . . . really grown like, with children of their own and those with children too Dare to Laugh. In the midst of loss and pain, when your heart feels as though it will rupture from the sadness Dare to Laugh. When your life’s experiences become well-refined wisdom Dare to Laugh.

Challenge yourself to chuckle at the everyday problems that ail you. Laughter is healing power and these sweet, heartfelt devotions prove the ache in one s heart may remain, but when the tears are given to God, the realization He is in control becomes apparent. Joy comes and laughter returns to your life.

Dare to Laugh Devotions for Those Full of Years is not a joke book, rather it s a balm for the soul, slathered across the hardships and cooling the sting of life. Lean back. Relax. Dig into the life lessons and then. . .dare to laugh.

Trials may come, but when we understand God stands beside us, we dare to laugh once again.

Do not pick up Dare to Laugh if you are looking for a joke book. But, if you are down, hurting, and the joy in your life has vanished, these quips of experience and wisdom built into devotions will help bring laughter back again. These heart-breaking, everyday problems along with a bit of laughter at oneself, leads you to understand the healing power of laughter. Each story ends with a prayer, a step forward, and a question to consider. The ache in one’s heart may remain, but when we turn the tears over to God, the realization He is in control becomes apparent. Joy comes and the laughter returns to your life.
